ABOUT US
Owens Insurance Agency & Financial Services, Inc. was founded in Wilmington,
North Carolina on September 25, 2000 by Edward Stephen Owens, III. Stephen
began his career in insurance in 1992 as an Associate Agent for a Nationwide
insurance agent in Wallace, NC. Stephen grew up in Burgaw, North Carolina
where he worked in a family business after graduation from college. He used
the valuable experience he gained from his family to establish and build his
own business.
 Insurance became Stephen’s passion, and the love for the dynamics of
insurance is evident in the success he has achieved. Stephen has won many
national awards for his achievements in sales and service. With his hard
work and the subsequent success came the opportunity to open a second office
location in Burgaw, NC in 2004. With two locations, the agency serves
southeastern North Carolina by providing competitive products for personal
lines, commercial lines, life insurance and the industry’s best financial
services.
Under Stephen’s leadership, the staff of Owens Insurance Agency keeps its
promise to deliver excellent customer service. The staff is aware that
insurance is difficult to understand and we are always ready to explain
policy details. All customer service representatives are licensed insurance
agents that stand ready to serve as advocates for our policyholders. Our
customers know that we are on their side. Each member of the staff receives
on-going training to keep abreast of industry and product changes so that we
retain our competitive edge. In addition to required training, many of our
staff have successfully completed training and testing to earn industry
designations, such as Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow (LUTCF),
Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), Accredited Advisor in
Insurance (AAI) and others.
Because of our close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and tidal waters, we
have become experts in the coastal insurance marketplace. We know how to
manage the risks associated with hurricane and flood prone areas by
providing just the right coverage for your most valuable asset, your home, or
your business. We take the worry out of properly insuring your home,
vacation home, rental property, autos, boats, motorcycles, and recreational
vehicles to name a few.

too. Our commercial lines department boasts many years of experience that
they can bring to the table to develop a customized plan of insurance that
best fits your business. And our commercial service department is second to
none in this market.
